Apalachicola Florida Fishing
Apalachicola is one of the oldest villages in the Florida panhandle and is rooted in commercial fishing. Those visiting specifically for Florida fishing will find it productive for tarpon fishing and redtail fishing as well.
Known for its famous oysters, the town has been built on the shells of oysters for almost 100 years. The town of Apalachicola is a gateway to the Apalachicola Bay system and the Apalachicola River to the north. Apalachicola Bay is home to many fish species, and an abundance of nutrients provide life to the surrounding Gulf waters. Tarpon is what the area is most famous for but redfish, tripletail, trout, jacks, and many more species abound in this bay system. Apalachicola bay is typically very “off-color” due to the muddy water coming down the river systems the dump into the bay. This muddy water, however, is the vehicle for the decayed plant matter that feeds the menhaden that in turn feeds the entire ecosystem. There are many launch points around the Apalachicola Bay system and depending on the specific area and wind, we will launch at a different point per day.
