Tarpon Fishing Along the Florida Gulf Coast
The Florida Panhandle Tarpon fishery encompasses a stretch of coast from Panama City Beach east to the Big Bend. This includes Lanark, Carrabelle, Apalachicola, Port St. Joe and Mexico Beach.
There are two major “zones” in the Florida Panhandle Tarpon fishery, and our guides fish both areas:
THE EASTERN ZONE: Apalachicola Bay to St George Sound
THE WESTERN ZONE: St. Joe Bay to Panama City Beach
The Apalachicola Tarpon fishery is fished by our guides based along the Eastern Panhandle; Alligator Point, Lanark, Carrabelle and Apalachicola. The Western based guides fish out of Port St. Joe, Mexico Beach and Panama City Beach.
Shallow Water Expeditions guides the entire stretch of this Florida Panhandle migratory route. Florida Tarpon Season in the Northern gulf typically begins May 1st and runs through August. Our fishery has an incredibly diverse set of environments to target Tarpon; everything from shallow grass flats to white sandy beaches. Regardless of the spot, one thing remains the same – this is 100% sight fishing!
